The YT Lab User Panel empowers users to amplify their presence on YouTube, one of the world’s most popular video-sharing platforms. From boosting subscriber growth to growing views organically, TheyTLab offers a suite of tools designed to take YouTube channel growth to new heights.
The aim of this study was to investigate how existing mechanisms in the YouTube mobile app support or undermine a sense of agency for users. Participants were asked to respond to a series of questions about how they felt in control when using the app. They were also asked to envision how they would feel about the same task if the design of certain features was changed.
AI in Telecommunications: News and Trends
We found that in general, when a user had a specific intention, they wanted design mechanisms to support this intention (e.g., finding videos about the topic). However, when they had a more general intention (e.g., relaxing), they tended to want design mechanisms that delegated some control over time to the app. In particular, they envisioned having options to limit how many recommendations they receive and settings that let them customize the location or content of those recommendations. These findings support the notion that a digital product can help or hinder an individual’s sense of agency over their own online behavior, and suggest promising directions for future research on digital wellbeing. This Labs feature improves the experience of creating and saving table calculations in Explore by making them more visible and accessible. It also adds a README doc to new LookML projects generated from your database, and makes the Create and Edit Table Calculations dialogs easier to navigate.
